Sigrid Ekran, 27, of Norway, participated in her first Iditarod this March. During the 1049 mile race from Anchorage to Nome she suffered a broken nose and food poisoning, yet still managed to arrive in Nome as the best rookie and first woman. She made it there in 10 days and 13 hours, and was number 20 of 82 participants.
